Outdoor Boudoir

Okay, so the thing I love the most and specialize in during the summer months is outdoor boudoir. Adventure Boudoir. Whatever you want to call it, it is my absolute favorite. But it can be really daunting to think about running around outdoors mostly or all the way naked. So I thought I would try to demystify it a little and also put a bunch of photos from one gallery in one place so you can get a better feel as so what a full session looks like with me.

Okay step one. We chat on the phone. I want to make sure that I can give you the experience that you are looking for and if I am not quite the right fit, refer you to someone who is! During this chat we go over what you are looking for, what to expect, choosing a time of day, and location.

Location location location. This is such an important part of outdoor boudoir and it is so personal. I have four general options for locations that I shoot at all the time, but if you have an idea, I am always happy to shoot in new places! My location vibes are either mossy forest, willow forest with a stream, mountain tundra, or mud and coast sessions. All of them are beautiful in their own way. With the locations that I normally shoot in, I have been really good at picking places where there are really no people. I am born and raised in Anchorage and have spent most of my life finding all the secret places to get away from people. I have had really good luck with this as I am a) good at picking locations and b) I try to time shoots when there are going to be less people out and about anyway. But I always say, I can never guarantee privacy. We are, after all, in the great outdoors.

So how do you choose a location? You choose the one that you connect with the most. For me that is always going to be places where there is some body of water. But for you it might be a mossy forest, or romping in the tundra. It is totally up to you! The photos on this blog post are all from a coast and mud session in September. It’s the only time of year we get where we get sunsets at a reasonable time and they are oh so special.

Leading up to your boudoir session, I send you a questionnaire that allows us both to think a little more about your session, a pre session guide (mostly just for fun and little tips), and a wardrobe suggestions guide in case you want a little direction. And if you have any questions, send me a text! I am always happy to chat.

Then the day of. This is the fun part! I always arrive to the location about 30-45 minutes before you and double check to make sure there are no bears or moose in the area, see if there are any people that we are going to have work around etc. This is also the time where I look at what the light is doing and let my creative brain work a little.

And then you get there! Depending on the location, it is normally a 5-10 minutes walk (20 for some locations but we always talk about accessibility before choosing a location) to the place we are going to shoot. For that reason, even with a 60-90 minute shoot, I always say budget two hours. It is no fun to feel rushed and it is my top priority that there is plenty of time for you to get comfortable with me and the space.

And then the fun begins! I always tell people to start withe their most conservative outfit and work their way to whatever is at the top. Maybe that is a more revealing piece of lingerie, maybe that is topless, maybe that is nothing at all (my personal favorite.. I just love the simplicity of it).

We spend 1-2 hours in the location and get way more photos that we possibly know what to do with. And then 1-2 weeks after your session, I host a virtual photo reveal where I create a slideshow with some of my favorites and show you how to use you online gallery.

So, if this sounds like something that you would love to do. I am booking summer of 2024, and would love to create beautiful art with you.
